  • Goodwill rocks!

OK guys...I am tired & just shared a bottle of wine with hubby over dinner, so excuse me in advance!

First off...my great nephew...Grayson Shade arrived into this world yesterday at 5:17 pm. at 8 1/2 lbs & 21" long.  I really wish that I were there to see him in person & to be able to hug on him. He is absolutely gorgeous and my niece & her husband are going to make the BEST parents!!
Here are the few pics that I have either shamelessly "borrowed" from FB or was sent via cell phone...

You can just feel her love oozing out of her with her new sweet baby

Is he not just perfectly adorable!

She sent this one to me this morning saying "good morning Great Aunt Doreen"!!!!
    Yep, it melted my heart!!!!

I may just have to take another quick trip down south to see this precious bundle of joy!

Thank all of you wonderful friends for your love & supporting words on my post from yesterday.
Hubby made me feel bad tonight as he said he read my post & that I was acting like I was on my deathbed.
I did NOT mean to sound like that....
Like I said, I am keeping a positive attitude. I am actually trying not to even think about it as there is nothing that I can do.
So, if I did come across as whiny or anything...I apologize..it was NOT my intentions at all.

Daughter had today off, so I was able to get my grocery shopping done (as we are still sharing my vehicle).
She also wanted to go to some more thrift stores today to look at some furniture as all she had from home was her bedroom set.
We went to Goodwill and for $52.00 she bought a dining room table, 1 dining chair, a desk, a living room chair, an end table and a bookcase!
No, I don't have pictures to share right now...but believe me, I plan on getting some soon to share. We just didn't have enough time today.
I think she did really well. She was pretty happy too. Funny thing was, we also went to TJ Maxx & she found the perfect plates to match her bowls & smaller plates that she had gotten for Christmas.
They were a wonderful price too...but 1 plate was more expensive than what she paid for her dining room table! lol... Can you believe her table was on clearance at the Goodwill for only  $2.99!  I know!
I think that I taught her well!

It snowed all day long today & is just a wet mess outside. I will be so happy to have the white stuff all gone! Of course, we are looking at another 3 months at least before that happens!

We grilled out some venison steaks tonight. Also sliced a zucchini in half & put some butter and garlic & onion salt on top & grilled it. I sauteed a sweet onion & some portabello mushrooms & made a green salad. Also had some warm Italian Herb Bread. And then of course, shared a bottle of wine. So I am now very full & sleepy from the food, wine & my long day!

Tomorrow, I am going to finish getting my house in order & catch up with reading over here.

For now I will say goodnight my friends.

  • Well heck!!
You did not sound whiny or like you were on your deathbed lol
    Men are silly creatures sometimes!

I love my thrift store finds.
But i have to say i have never had a find as good as her table!!!!
    Now that was AMAZING!!!!

She is a good shopper just like her Mama ;o)

Little Grayson is just adorable...and he is so perfect..he looks older than he is if that makes sense???
I don't blame you for wanting to see him in person and get some cuddling time in .

thanks Kel...*Men! *eyeroll! lol... Yeah, I think that I have taught Lori well on her shopping skills :) I totally know what you mean about Grayson..he is just so alert looking! It is a chore sometimes to get over here to post, but I do enjoy Xanga & I hope that I can stick with it!

  • oh newborn babies are precious! it's sad that my parents never met/saw isla as a baby. that's something i plan to write you. just adorable. it makes me think that isla used to be that small, being born a month premature. haha she's such a big, hearty girl now.so funny too. i didn't think you sounded like you were on your deathbed. you just had a crappy day and wanted to vent. i totally get it. so i think it was fine. yea, goodwill is just great! they have lots of charity shops in london so you can get good deals there too. if we just had a big enough apartment to put stuff in, maybe i would buy. we gotta move since our london pad is just too small. that's why our beijing flat is nice for us for isla to run around and not feel cramped. our london one is tiny but pricey since we live in a nice neighborhood. we are sooo looking forward to returning on jan 16th! cannot wait to visit the parks and see green!! none here. just cars and cars and pollution....
grayson is a nice name and babies are so cute. i want another one...so does hubby since isla's such a great little girl. but i'm not supposed to have another one since i may have a stroke that could totally mess me up so we want to maybe use another way,...

  • Grayson Shade.  Love the name and he is absolutely an adorable little angel.   Now your daughter knows how to shop and where.  We shop the Salvation Army and B Street Thrift shop here and they always have the best computer chairs for when ours wear out.  Send us your snow.  We want snow and not rain for a while:):)  Oh yummy, grilled venison,  Hope that you got a good nights rest and that you have a wonderful Thursday.

  • You definitely taught her well not just at thrift shopping skills. Good mom. :)

  • Oh CONGRATULATIONS to you and to the family Dorie Sue!! Oh what a precious darling So adorable that you have the photos 'auntie' :) A time of joy that is for sure...but you did not whine at all*** you have the right attitude and you are in my heart and prayers..sounds like the wine was good by the way :) love you...Lee

They always grow up too fast Angela. I am very sorry that your parents didn't get to see Isla as a baby..they are the ones who missed out. I know you are anxious to get back to London..won't be long now. It would be wonderful if you & hubby could have another child :)

  • @grannyinboxers -

I love the name too...very unusual, which makes it very distinctive! I wish I could send some of this snow your way..I am sick of it! lol..
