  • Up and running!

The Dish man came out & tweaked a few things & re-aimed the dish a bit and voila...I have internet again!   I am going to investigate once again to see if DSL is available in our area yet. The last time that I checked, it wasn't, but things are building up around here, so maybe ....just maybe!

We got to see daughter last night. We took her out to eat & then she came over & we played Phase Ten and listened to a country mix CD that she made us. Had a fun time.
She is busy now this weekend with work and some social activities.  She is really getting loaded up this semester with homework unlike last semester, so she stays pretty busy during the week with that & school.
Her kitty cats really miss her. Here is where you can almost always find Pepper nowadays...

snuggled up on Lori's old bed with her stuffed Lucky dog.... awwww....

We are hoping to get a 40 degree day tomorrow. If so, we will be doing something outside!

I fixed a couple of Valentine treats yesterday. Sent some home with daughter, kept a few for us & then will send a lot with hubby to the office on Monday!

Chocolate Studded Dream Cookies and Oreo Cookie Balls

I have never made the Oreo Cookie Balls before, but they are so easy & really good. Kind of like a truffle...

    Oreo Cookie Balls

    1 regular size package Oreos
1 8 oz. package cream cheese
    white almond bark

Add Oreos to food processor and blend until fine.
Add cream cheese to Oreo crumbs and blend until dough-like.
Chill mixture for 15 minutes, then roll into bite-size balls.  Chill balls for 15 minutes.
Melt almond bark in microwave according to package directions.  Dip chilled Oreo balls in melted chocolate using fork so chocolate can "drip off".
Set covered cookie balls onto waxed paper and let set approximately 30 minutes.
If using sprinkles or decorative sugars, do so before chocolate sets.

You can customize these with any holiday sprinkle to fit the occasion.

    Makes 24-36 balls.

I have another special treat in mind that I am going to make for hubby & I , but will wait & make them tomorrow & will also send some over to daughter.
Will share that with you on the next post.
I am going to pick up some crab legs on Monday, and that will be our Valentine's dinner :)

I am going to leave you with some more pictures from our most recent visitors...

I know that I had a cardinal shot in these same bushes from my last post..this IS a different shot...
they are just so pretty against the blah background!

  • Those deer are so expressive, I could almost caption them! The one in the 4th picture looks like he's "LOL-ing" at something! The fella in the 6th photo smells excitement in the air, and in the 9th pic, I immediately thought that he looks like he's saying "Whatchu' talkin' 'bout, WIllis?" And I can't get enough of those cardinals! You definitely have a better view out your windows than I do of my neighbor's covered grill and cushionless deck chairs! :-p

The Oreo treats and chocolate cookies look wonderful! What a neat idea to put Oreos with the cream cheese and white chocolate! Did I miss the other cookie recipe? I will look in the sidebar for it.

Cute photo of Pepper. I bet her cats really do miss her and like to stay close to her room. I'm glad you got to see her yesterday!

Hope you and hubby have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

  • Oh, I forgot to mention that I am glad your Internet problems have been solved! I think I am the trouble with my computer problems! :-p

  • I'll never forget that feeling when I upgraded to dsl, no more slow; loading videos, photos, downloading music or anything else. I hope you get it. I love the deer shots especially the close up ones, I almost can feel the texture of its fur. I think i would probably befriend one of them. Which reminds me, I should post my most recent wild bird happening. Your treats look so uniformed...too bad can't send one over through the internet for a taste. :)

  • that is so cute of pepper! what a sweet pic!! oh i want some of your treats!!! gimme! lovely. wish we lived closer so i could grab some of your sweets! looks delish. what is white almond bark? they don't have that here. it was nice i made a flourless choco cake which hubby adores. i had some the first night and man, i couldn't sleep because of all the caffeine in the dark choco. it was delish. we had it with creme fraiche and raspberries which was lovely. we've been worried about isla who's had high fevers but we're glad this morn, she seems normal so that's a blessing since hubby's leaving this afternoon for beijing. so it'll just be me and isla here with the jaek jaek ee. hehe she's there in front of the cage staring at them. she threw out her food when i was feeding her this morn which i despise. she's not so hungry so ok...we're both so tired since we've been getting up in the middle of the night. so pooped. i will make an effort to go to bed with her more so i'm not tired which means no FL. gotta take a break. glad your internet's working now! was wondering what happened to you. that's nice you get to see lori...ok gotta read to isla. ;)

haha...love your "captions" I think the same way every time I upload the pictures! They do have so many wonderful expressions. I couldn't remember for sure if I had ever posted the other cookie recipe & was going to look in my recipe module. If I didn't post it before, I will soon.

  • @wematter -

Yes, you must post your most recent bird happening! I love your photos!

  • @angelahappydot -

I wish we lived closer too..you could grab my treats & I could play with Isla! I really hope she gets better soon. I saw pics of your cake you made for hubby...it looked delicious! White almond bark is in the baking section here...it is used to melt and make all kinds of candies. It is real popular at Christmas time.

  • yay for working internet! Where I am now I have a different carrier and I love it. I wish we could have had it at the house, but they seem to have 'dibs' on different areas around town. : /

The candies look so good! I'm sure the guys at work will gobble them up.

Aww, poor kitties missing Daughter! When Son is home, Bailey loves it, but after he leaves she lays outside his bedroom door for days, moping around. : (

Enjoy the warm weather tomorrow! It's supposed to be warm here too...I'm hoping that means the warehouse won't be quite as chilly.

BTW, thank you so much for the sweet V-Day card! It made my day! <3

  • @WakeUpLaughing -

You are very welcoome...I was hoping it may help bring a smile to you :) I hope that warehouse warms up for you!

  • Oh i love the 6th picy where the deer is looking up!!

YAY!! for internet working and staying working *crosses fingers*

Poor Pepper...Guess he has to snuggle the next best thing.
Glad you got to Spend some time with Daughter...Seems she is pretty busy now a days.
    Valentines Dinner sounds Awesome!

  • I love love love the pic of the red birds in the snowy branches. I did one similar a couple of years ago with only 1 cardinal. I may make a painting similar...I loveeeee it!

  • @LGailGarrett -

this one bush at times will have up to 4 cardinals at a time...but always by the time I get my camera, some have flown off! I just love them in the winter time, they really stand out.
