  • What a beautiful day it was today! I spent a lot of time working outside & also just sitting out on the deck & enjoying my beautiful surroundings. The only thing missing was my hubby!

I have spent 3 weeks down in Oklahoma, then I get home only to drive my daughter to the airport 2 days later for her to leave on her summer study abroad program & then hubby left the next day to go down to Texas to get a job started. He will be back very late tonight, so at least we will have tomorrow together!

Daughter is in Berlin right now & will be there for another 7 days before moving on to the next city. What an exciting time for her! Each day has been packed full for them seeing so many sites & also lectures & homework! lol..  I talked to her today & she said that they just haven't had any "free" time to go & shop & see things on their own. I did have to remind her that this is a school "study" trip & not a "vacation"!  I am sure that they will get some free time soon though.

The time that I spent in Tulsa with my in-laws was both extremely hard yet also so rewarding &  such a treasure that I will cherish always.

me & my mother in law spent each & every day together.

The love that the 2 of them share is so heartwarming.

She is a very strong lady & is still hanging on. Some days are better than others. Some days you find yourself thinking that maybe there could be hope...but then as quick as you find yourself thinking that, the next day comes & takes its toll. It seems like the last few days have been more of the bad than the good.

Please remember to hug your loved ones & let them know how much they mean to you. Never take today for granted. Today is a gift...enjoy it & live it to its fullest!

    It is soul soothing.
YAY for Daughter...I know she is prolly just over the moon and soaking it all up.
Now if she can just get that shopping in LOL!!!

I honestly really admire you for going to stay with your MIL.
I am sure you think...any one would do it...but that is not true.
You are a sweet caring person and i know you made her days better by being there<3

  • I'm glad it all worked out. I know what you mean about the amazing love part.

  • Hello Doreen,

Wow, what a wonderful experience your daughter has. This will be something she will remember for the rest of her life. Many of us spend our entire lives never leaving the State we live in. Oh I have been a few places but not near as many that I dream in my head lol.

Yes it is true we should always tell our loved ones how much we love them, & it's good you have a great relationship with your inlaws some of us aren't that lucky.

Been missing you on FB but ever so often I see you here, & there.

Haven't heard much from Kathi lately (still groovy) have you?

    Hugs dearest.

    Linda

  • Hi Doreen. I see a lot has been going on since my last visit. I don't get to Xanga much. Read the other posts and I love how you see things and think. Some would count it a chore but you see it as a privilege. I'm sure you will have all kinds of good things to think about later. Best wishes to you and you IL's. And to your daughter! She is getting a chance some of us only dream about. ~Gail

  • Oh, Doreen! So much has happened to you recently, and I am sorry it is not good things. I just have read back in your posts. I'm just getting back to Xanga, myself. How is your MIL doing? My mother died of the same two things, but by the time she got the cancer, she only had less than two weeks - but they were AWFUL! Is the picture of your MIL and FIL from an earlier time? It's so fortunate that you could be of help to them during this time, but I'm sure it was physically and emotionally exhausting.

How exciting your daughter is in Europe studying! To this day, S is so happy he did that (he was in Italy, and after the session ended, he went all over Europe). Your daughter will have so many fun memories of her time there!

I hope you'll be posting again soon! I miss you!

  • @Mymanyblessings - Aww, just saw this. Thank you, Linda!

  • @Still_groovy - That picture was taken when I was there in May! She is still in & out of the coma. 11 days today with no water, 13 with no food..just unbelievable! I have actually found so many people who have lost someone with this as well. Glad to see you back!
