  • December....

Here we are halfway through the month of December already!  Unbelievable!

I do believe that yesterday was my final frantic day of getting things finished for the holidays though. I did a bit more baking & made up some goody bags & gathered a few gifts for hubby's office people and I think that I am now completely finished.  Now I can relax & enjoy the hoidays!

Besides shopping, baking, wrapping, decorating, etc...here is what else has been going on up here in the northwoods thus far in December....
Friday, the 4th we had a Christmas party to go to...I managed to get a picture taken of hubby & I before we headed out...

    008

We have another party to go to this Friday.

Last Tuesday & Wednesday, we were under blizzard warnings...we ended up with about 13 1/2" of snow. Here's a few shots of that...

    windows
You can tell how hard the snow had blown by how it is on the windows & the ledges

    rooftop back

this is snow on the rooftop!

    back door

and here is a shot out of the back door.

So our first big dump was a good one for sure!

While trapped inside that day, I finished boxing up all of my packages to be mailed. I had already gotten 3 in the mail prior to this mess....

    001

Whew! that was quite the job! Then came the shock of the expense of postage...whoa! It was something like $140 total for all.

I posted some pictures of my tree in my last post, here's a few other decorations around the house....

    007

last year we bought a box of 2 "potted" trees on year end clearance.
I put one of them in the basement.

    013

and the other on the ledge between the loft & the main floor.

    012

This is also something new that I had gotten.

It is a card holder. It is a swirly metal stand in the shape of a tree.

    016

Just a cozy shot...I did hang my wreath up higher this year over the fireplace as I wanted to keep my eagle hanging as well. I don't think it looks too bad.

We have been enjoying the deer meat that hubby put in the freezer for us. So far I have made stew, chili & tacos from it. He needs to get out there and get us another one!

I am so frustrated about something & have spent endless hours trying to figure it out. About a week ago, I upgraded to windows 7 from window vista on my computer. I thought all was just fine...but since then I can't get my backup to work. I have been so good & faithful since getting this new computer by backing it up on a weekly basis...but now something is screwed up with it. Has anyone else changed over & if so have you had any problems?

Well, I best get...I need to get some grocery shopping in today, but first I need to plan some menus...

I hope you all have a good week & stay warm!  yikes speaking of staying warm...the temp here actually dropped a couple of degrees just in the last 2 hours. It is now at -7 with a wind chill of  -20.  brrr..  It is suppose to get up to 5 degrees though...so I hope that still happens!

    Zany warm hugs to you...

  • You house looks so comfy and cozy for the holidays! Love all the decorations, especially the card tree. I'll have to find one of those! I've been thinking about potted trees for the front porch...are the weather resistant? You and Mike look very spiffy...tell him I said he cleans up good! haha! : p Hope you're getting everything under control and can start to relax a little. Hugs!

  • @WakeUpLaughing - these trees said they are indoor/outdoor, so I would think so. I think I got them at Target last year. Yeah, Mike CAN clean up pretty good when he wants to..doesn't happen very often though! lol...

  • I enjoy seeing your pictures.  Your house looks so festive and warm.  That snow  sure makes it look a  lot like Christmas.  We have only had a little bit so far and that is mostly gone now.  I was amazed at the price of mailing packages too.  I really think twice about what I'm buying if I have to mail it out of town.  I do more online shopping and have it shipped direct to the person I'm giving it to.

I love the picture of your and your husband...looking real good.

  • @dingdongdingbat - I think that I will be doing more online shopping/direct shipping next year myself. I am new to all of this having to mail so many packages now that we live away from all of our family! Thank you so much for your comments & compliments.

  • Nice picture of you and the hubby, certainly make a lovely couple. :) Well your house is indeed all ChristmasE :) We got snow here but nothing at all compared to what you have. It sure does look pretty though over at your place. Anywho enjoy your week xoxox Tynee

  • I Love the picy of you and the Hubster!!
The snow just amazes me....I just can't imagine.
Awww your house look so festive.
I love how you put the tree on the ledge.
With the fire going it just looks so warm and cozy.
I was wondering with all the windows does it feel colder or no???
I love the tree card holder....i am going to have to look for one after Christmas ;o)
I am soooooo done with being at the post office gahhhhhhhh
    Keep warm Chica ;o)

  • @Luvthewaves - oh yeah...between all of those windows & the open ceiling the dining room & living room are very cold & very hard to keep heated in the winter. However, when the sun shines, it beats through those windows during the day heating it up pretty good then.

  • Your house is beautiful. Hope you hubby and daughter have a wonderful holiday. Love to you, Judi

  • Facebook deleted my account for asking people (who put their name on a board to play games like zoo, Sorority Life) inviting them to play. They asked to be included. Then I tried to email them to explain but that is almost impossible. So no more games for me at Facebook. Judi
