  • Happy Hump Day!
The week is moving along quite nicely.
Looking forward to the weekend.  Fishing & Father's Day!

This past weekend we went to an art festival in town on Saturday. Had fun just walking around & looking at the stuff & people watching.  After that hubby & I stopped at a new "saloon" in town. Had a couple of beers & shared an appetizer. Was fun getting out.

Sunday, we were up early & at  a friend's house who live on a lake by 7:00am.They took us out on their boat & we did a little bit of fishing. We couldn't stay out too long becayse he was involved with the Parade of Homes that is going on & he had  to work that afternoon. But that little bit of time was fun, even though the fishing wasn't so great. Hubby was the only one who caught anything & it wsn't worth keeping.

Monday morning started off with a bit of a scare. I got a phone call regarding my mammogram that I had done on 6/4. There was a "tiny" spot that they wanted me back in so that they could enlarge that area & get more readings. Also a cyst that they wanted to take a better look at. So I went in that afternoon & left feeling relieved, as after more images were looked at & an ultra sound was done,  they decided that it was nothing to be concerned about. They do want me back in 6 mos. instead of 1 year though....just as a precaution.   Always better to be safe than sorry!

Speaking of scares....last Thursday, daughter woke up not feeling well. She already had an emotional week dealing with some personal issues, then she felt like she was coming down with something. She had to work so she loaded up on cold meds (for her sore throat & aches & pains), Advil for her headache, then she took her regular allergy pill. She negelected to eat anything though (which she already had not been eating well the past few days)  I got a phone called around 2:00 that afternoon saying that I needed to go to her work & pick her up that she had fainted.  Come to find out, she had been feeling so bad, she thought she was going to be sick, so she was on her way to the restroom & fainted on the way. Fell face forward. She came to with several employees & customers staring down at her. They had called 911 & the paramedics took all of her vitals & checked her out before they allowed her to get up.
She has learned the hard way that you don't take that much medicine & you also need to have food in your stomach.
She ended up with a black eye, bruises & has been pretty sore from the fall. But she is about back to normal now. (or as close to normal as zany jr. can be!)

This book that I am reading right now (at the beginning of my post) is very good. A real page turner & hard to put down.

I won't load you up with a lot of pictures. I actually haven't taken that many.
Here are just a couple from the art festival...

Just for fun....I guess that I am pretty well balanced by the result of this!

You Are 55% Left Brained, 45% Right Brained
The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

A couple more recipes to share with you.  This first one I made last night. All 3 of us really enjoyed it. It is another one that is great for spring & summer.

Pasta with Lemon Chicken and Sun-dried Tomatoes

    Serves 4

    4 skinless chicken breast halves

    1 Tbl of olive oil

    8 oz of penne pasta

4 garlic cloves minced. (In this recipe it's important to use fresh garlic. I use my microplaner to get it very finely minced)

1/8 tsp of crushed red pepper (or to taste)

    1.5 cups of chicken broth

3 Tbl of lemon juice (fresh)

    2 Tbl of butter

1/3 cup of sun-dried tomatoes (in oil, pat them a bit with a paper towel to reduce oil and fat)

4 cups of fresh baby spinach (6 oz)

1/4 - 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

2 tsp of Italian herb seasoning

Start a pot of water to boil for your pasta.

Place your chicken in a sauté pan and add 1" of water. Make sure the chicken is almost covered. Bring to a simmer and cook the chicken for approx 15 minutes or until no pink remains. You might need to turn the chicken when half way through in order to make sure it cooks through. Cut open a piece and make sure no pink remains before proceeding. When cooked take it out of the sauté pan and place on a cutting board. You are going to take two forks and shred the chicken. It's easy. Just hold one fork in each hand. Poke them in the chicken near each other and pull apart. If you are going along the grain of the chicken it will pull apart easily and you'll get shreds. If it's not exactly right just adjust the position of the chicken and try again. Even if you are just getting chunks that okay. You'll master this technique eventually. You can cube the chicken too, if you prefer. Set aside while you work on the sauce.

Pour the water out of the pan and wipe it clean. Cut the sundried tomatoes into narrow strips if they came whole. Set them aside. Add one Tbl of olive oil, the garlic, the crushed pepper and cook on medium 2 -3 minutes. You do not want to brown the garlic. Just get it all heated.

Add the chicken broth and the lemon. Increase heat to high.

While this is getting going cook your pasta in a pot of boiling water according to the directions on the box. Should take about 8 minutes to cook.

Go back to your sauce. When the sauce comes to a boil turn it to a gentle boil and cook for about 10 minutes or until the liquid is reduced to about a cup.

Reduce heat to very low and add the butter and the sun-dried tomatoes. At this point if your pasta is not yet cooked, turn off the heat under the sauce, and wait. When the pasta is done, drain it and put it and the chicken in a pasta bowl. Then finish the sauce by adding the spinach. You can turn the heat on low, and just toss the spinach around until it wilts a bit. (If the pan was turned off you need to get the sauce warm again before adding the spinach). I like mine to taste really fresh so I don't cook it much at all. Add this whole mixture to the pasta and then add the Parmesan cheese and mix. Add the herb mixture and mix again and you are ready to serve.

This dish stands on its own very well. All I add is some crunchy bread to dip in the sauce or serve the bread with butter and you are all set.

This next one is perfect for a quick meal. Also great for warmer weather. And is super easy!

  • Quack, quack...some days you feel like a duck...

    duck2

It has been raining here for the last 3 days. I know we need it, but I hated that it rained on the weekend. (takes away my fishing time!)

    rainrainblinkie1

It did stop for a while yesterday & hubby & I got out & did a bit more clearing & cleaning up outside. Just doing a little bit each weekend really helps.

It was also really chilly yesterday (down in the 40's!) I actually had to turn on the heater. Running a heater in June goes against everything that I know being raised down in the south!

I am giving you all a break from my pictures in this post. lol...  I know that I have been overloading you all here lately.
I will overload you this time with some new recipes that I have made recently though.
See there, you just can't get a break, can you?

Xanga is SO dead here lately. So many of us are only doing a random post here & there.  I miss the way it use to be! I miss hearing from so many of my good friends over here.

I have actually been trying to get this post up since this morning. I keep losing my internet connection. grrrr...that is so frustrating.

    duck

It happened to me yesterday too. Seems when the weather is bad, this satellite internet is just hit or miss.

This first recipe, hubby & I both just loved. It makes a wonderful "light" spring or summer meal.
It would also be very nice to serve to company. Be sure to have a nice bottle of wine to serve!

This next one was really good. We usually don't do casseroles very often, but this one even pleased hubby!
It reheats very well for leftovers & makes enough for a crowd or would even be good to bring to a potluck.

                               Stroganoff Casserole

1      10 oz. jar    Spaghetti sauce
1      16 oz. pkg    Wide egg noodles
1      8 oz. pkg.    cream cheese -- softened
       1      16 oz.        sour cream
1      bunch         green onions -- chopped
                            Grated Parmesan

Cook meat, chopped onion, garlic & mushrooms until meat loses pink color.
    Drain any fat.
    Add spaghetti sauce & simmer 15 - 20 minutes.

Cook & drain noodles. Set aside.

Chop green onions (tops too) and stir into sour cream and cream cheese until smooth and all lumps of cream cheese are gone.

Using a 9x13 pan, layer 1/2 of the noodles on the bottom, dollop, then attempt to spread 1/2 of the cream cheese mixture and finish with 1/2 of the meat mixture.  Repeat these 3 steps, ending with the meat mixture.
Sprinkle Parmesan on top and bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes (until bubbly)

This was just too precious not to share....

    The Price of Children

This is just too good not to pass on to all. Here is something absolutely positive for a change.   have repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time have seen the rewards listed this way.   It's nice.... !

    Laughter

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140.00 for a middle income family. Talk about price shock! That doesn't include the cost of post-secondary education.

But $160,140.00 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into:
    * $8,896.66 a year,
    * $741.38 a month,
    * $171.08 a week.
    * A mere $24.24 a day!
    * Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is
don't have children if you want to be 'rich'.
Actually, it is just the opposite.
What do you get for your $160,140.00?

    * Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
    * Glimpses of God every day.
    * Giggles under the covers every night.
    * More love than your heart can hold.
    * Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
    * Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm   cookies.
    * A hand to hold usually covered with jelly or
     chocolate.
    * A partner for blowing bubbles and flying kites.
    * Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what
the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.
For $160,140.00, you never have to grow up.
    You get to:

    * finger-paint,
    * carve pumpkins,
    * play hide-and-seek,
    * catch lightning bugs,
    * never stop believing in Santa Claus.

    You have an excuse to:
    * keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
    * watch Saturday morning cartoons,
    * go to Disney movies, and
    * wish on stars.

You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under
refrigerator magnets  and collect spray painted noodlewreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

For a mere $24.24 a day, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for:

    * retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
    * taking the training wheels off a bike,
    * removing a splinter,

    * filling a wading pool,
    * coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and
    * coaching a baseball team that never wins but always  gets treated to ice cream regardless.
You get a front row seat in history to witness the:
     * First step,
     * First word,
     * First bra,
     * First date,
     First time behind the wheel.

You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to
your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of  limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match..

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground the m forever, and love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost. That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!!

Love & enjoy your children & grandchildren &
great-grandchildren!!!!!!!   It's the best investment you'll ever make!!!!!!!!!

  • Around the house...

     Happy hump day!

I hope your week is going well.
Hubby & daughter both have been having a crappy week at work so far.   I really hope that today is better for both of them.

I have been staying busy working inside & out & trying to catch up with my many projects.

Have I mentioned lately how grateful that I am for my life?   I am so very blessed.
Thank you hubby for giving me such a wonderful life!

Here are the rest of the pictures that I wanted to share with you all. Just a few things from around the house. Well, except for this first one....it was my dinner the other night at a new restaurant that we tried....

    Photo0351.jpg
Doesn't that look so pretty! lol...
It is scallops on top of polenta. Those are strawberries on top of the scallops.
    mmmm.....good....

    OK...back at home now...

you can really see how tall those mystery plants are getting out on the mound...

just a shot that I liked of this big bird in that tree in the middle. I wish that I could have zoomed in even closer to tell what type of bird it was.  I thought it was  a pileated woodpecker as we were hearing it "laugh" when I took this picture, but hubby didn't think so.

I now have these all blooming along the front of the house

    bloom2
So pretty. Everything we have here though is purple. The previous owner must have loved that color. lol...

    blooms3
here are the flowers that are blooming from that "mystery" plant. Someone suggested that they may be lamb's ears.
I still need to research those to see if these are what those flowers look like...

Hubby & I are trying to clean up & clear out certain areas around the property. It is definitely an ongoing job.
This was the area that we worked on this past Sunday...
    clearing
The area where you see bare ground is where we cleaned up & took a lot of small trees & trash plants out of.
We had found another apple tree back there & to the left which is what prompted this clean-up.
I have scratches all over me from the blackberry brambles. lol...I guess I need to learn to wear long sleeves & pants when I do this type of work.
It doesn't look like much from this picture, but we worked really hard & it is a huge improvement from what it started as.

    Family outing

A mother bear and three cubs visited the yard of the Reitzner family Monday morning in the Woodridge area south of Eau Claire. The cubs climbed a tree when they heard Kessea Reitzner step outside to take this photo. They left soon after she took the photo

How cute is that!  There are a lot of bear stories right now as they are coming out with their cubs & looking for food.
They are saying that now through the month of June is when they are very active.  We have to bring in the birdfeeders each night & as of now, I won't be taking any walks alone for a while!
I am also having to bring in my hummingbird feeders every night from the porch & deck as the raccoon gets into those.

Well, I best get busy as I have lots to do.
I hope you all have a great day.

I hope you all had a great weekend.  I'll be making my rounds to check up on you all very soon.

  • A Tuesday after a 3 day weekend is like a double Monday!     At least it will be a short week.

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  We did a little bit of playing with an equal part of working around the house also.

Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market.  It is still early in the growing season, so there wasn't a lot of veggies or fruit to pick from. I did get some asparagus & mixed greens. Also bought a loaf of Challah bread, which we were disappointed in. Hubby use to make it & his was the best! This didn't have much flavor at all.  We bought some cheese from a local dairy. It was called "taste of Sicily" & was very good.

Hubby also spotted this hanging basket of flowers & got it for our front porch...

    flowers
notice that bear bell hanging on the post? That was a gift I got for hubby for his birthday. It says "chow time" on the bell.
Yes mom, he finally hung it! lol...

Lori had a day off & wanted to cook for us again. (I am loving this!)
This time she made  orange/honey glazed chicken breasts & served it over rice with a side of mixed Asian veggies.
I thought it turned out very good, so did hubby. She was a bit disappointed in it. She thought the chicken was a bit dry. lol... I didn't get a picture of her cooking, but did grab my camera just as we were sitting down to eat.
    dinner
She even had a bowl of fortune cookies for our dessert!

    dinner2

Sunday we took the canoe out & did some fishing.

    fishing
It was an absolutely beautiful day.  We caught a lot of small fish & hubby caught a decent size bass.

One thing though...I will NEVER fish with live leeches again.  They are a very popular bait up here, especially for catching Walleye....I have never fished with them, but thought I could give it a try. I did have to put on rubber gloves before I would bait my hook. But they were the most disgusting things....ugh...I still get shivers just thinking of them. And the smell! OMG...it is horrible!

    ewwwwwwwwww!!!!!

    turtles
I had to take this picture for Lori...she loves turtles. lol...

    turtle love
    awwww...turtle love.

Yesterday we spent the day doing yardwork, housework & laundry.  The yard is looking so pretty. I am finally getting to see what types of plants we have around here.  One exciting find was this....
    lily valley
all of the ground cover in this area is lily of the valley!
Doesn't that picture up there look like an enchanted forest?  I am still expecting to find fairies there!

    lily valley2
    It smells SO good!

I cut some & brought it inside to enjoy the perfumy smell.

    lily of valley

Then of course, I am still enjoying the smell of the lilacs

the irises are blooming out now also...

OK...I have a question...does anyone know what this tree is?
    tree
It is short, but very full & in bloom right now...
here is a close up of the blooms...
    tree2

There is an Asian feel to this bed with this unknown tree (which reminds me of a cherry tree)
along side the big evergreen tree.
So, I finally got hubby to move my Buddha & pagoda moved over there.

    asian

I need to do a bit more readjusting to their positioning, but I like them up here.
Those are all more irises ready to bloom & there is some other type of bulb coming up under that tree.

    garden
There are also some type of berry plants in this bed. Blackberries or raspberries...not sure yet.

Miss Mable is still a frequent visitor & is getting very use to us now.

    Miss Mable

We do have to bring in all of the birdfeeders at night right now though.
This time of the year is bad for bears getting into them & after that last incident, we don't want to lose any more feeders.

I have also had to start bringing in my hummingbird feeders at night as well. The racoon is getting into them!
He started with the suet that I had hanging near the deck. We knew it was him from all of his tracks that he left!
Then when I took it down, he got into one of the hummingbird feeders. Totally drained it!  I started taking just that one down, but then he moved on down to the next one! So now they all come inside at night. lol....

I also have been putting orange slices out for the orioles. Evidently the coon doesn't like oranges because he took a bite out of one but threw it down to the ground!  He does like grape jelly though....I have  been putting a bit of the jelly out on a lid for the orioles to eat & he licked it clean overnight!  At first it was cute & funny. Now it is just plain annoying!

    oriole
Not a great shot as I was inside the house when I saw this oriole eating the jelly from the lid.
They really love the orange slices. I have also had hummingbirds & finches eating on the orange slices!

Hubby & I took our evening walk either Friday or Saturday night & saw a couple of wolves! There is a field right across the road from our land that has just recently been cleared & is now in  the process of being plowed &  planted . It was about 7:30 or 8:00 & we saw them running through this open field. Then the next night, we heard a pack of them howling. In fact, daughter & I were out taking a walk & it was around 8:30 when we were just getting to our driveway & heard them off in the distance. Then one lone wolf hollered back at them,  not far from us at all!  It scared the bejeebers out of me & I told Lori to hurry up as we needed to get to the house! She was trying to bark & howl back at them...silly girl!  We heard them for quite a while that night & then nothing since, so hopefully they were just moving through & are now out of the immediate area.

OK...I need to get off of this computer & get busy.

    Zany hugs to you ~

  • God's creatures & thrift sales...

    Happy weekend all...
I can't believe how quickly the week just flew by! And here it is, also the middle of May!  "zoom, zoom, zoom"

Things are greening up & blooming & sprouting all over here. The apple trees have blossoms on them. The blackberries are getting fruit on them, the lilacs are gorgeous & smell SO good.
    lilac blooms.JPG
    lilac blooms2.JPG

Those big mystery plants that I have all over the mound in the back yard are about to bloom with what looks like purple flowers.

One bad thing though are the tics...they are horrible. I am going to have to get in the habit of spraying with Off before I go outside.

Let me show you some of God's beautiful creatures that he is allowing to visit us here in our slice of heaven...

    bluebird
This is not a good shot, but was taken from a long distance...

Thursday evening we had a deer and a turkey come to visit

OK...get ready for this...we were sitting at the dinner table Thursday evening finishing up our dinner (which daughter cooked...more on that later)
It was around 7:00 when right outside the dining room window, we see these beautiful creatures walking down the path & right towards us....

    DSC00918cr

Gray Foxes...They are SO beautiful!  Hubby looked them up & the one above is a male.
Looks like he has a lions mane. The one below is the female. The female was a lot more "at ease" and came the closest.

In fact, she came right to the birdfeeder & ate the seeds on the ground.

Oh how I love living here!

OK...back to Thursday nights dinner.  Lori has finally started showing an interest in cooking.
She wanted to make dinner for us all. She found a recipe online of a pasta dish.

    cook

She insisted on wanting to do everything herself with no help from mom!

    cook2

I was highly impressed as there was chicken cutlets included in this recipe that she had to bread & fry .... usually a bit much for a beginner.

    cook3

It all turned out SO good. This would have been something that I would have tried & we would have called it a "keeper"!

    cook4
    Yum-O Lori!!!   Way to go.

Thursday was a fun day all around. Lori was off that day as well & that morning we decided that we would go & check out some "thrift" sales...I am use to calling them garage sales from down south, but here they are called thrift sales.
I must say, we had a lot of fun & got some bargains.
Check out all that we got for just $21.00..

    vase.JPG
I loved this tall green vase. I have put it up in my upper windowsill in the living room & it looks so pretty with the sun shining through it.

    Christmas in May!
This cute little scrap snowman was just too hard to resist & that is a very nice pointsettia fabric tablecloth.

I also loved this embroidered pillow

a couple of books & these adorable vintage looking glass deer.

    Lori's stuff.JPG
These are what daughter got. The owl is a candleholder, so when lit, his eyes glow!
The box reminds me of Danish or Scandinavian art on top. The lid opens & there are 2 large compartments inside for "treasures"

    boathouse.JPG
    haha...cute, huh...a boathouse birdhouse.

    garden box.JPG
This little wooden gardening box has sunflowers painted on the sides.
I have put it outside on my front porch. Will put some gardening gloves & a small shovel in it & maybe a bushel of wildflowers...

    birdhouse.JPG
Just a regular birdhouse. You can't have enough of them around here.

    rocker.JPG
This little child's wooden rocker was only $2.00. But I thought it would be cute on the porch with flowers on it.
I still need to buy some annuals & plant them, so will add that & maybe a vine or something twisted to the slats on the back.
    So many possibilities!

    bird pics.JPG
The 2 beautiful bird pictures were only $1.00 a piece. They will go inside my "bird" room, which is the office

    ducks
A loon painted on a piece of tree bark. It looks much cooler in person
And the duck is carved out of some type of light wood.

They both went well in the downstairs bathroom. I did take the ribbon off of the duck though.

    Another "fun" birdhouse....
    A bit patriotic & whimsical.

    bear
Wood carving of pine trees with a black bear between them. Fits well with the house!

We had a great time. Now if I can just find some old snowshoes & an old fly fishing rod. I am looking for both to decorate with.

Last night we went over to some friends house for dinner. They are the ones that have the newborn, so you know that I loved holding that sweet little girl! After dinner we threw darts for a while.  It was a fun evening.

It is a dreary day today. We had rain last night & the wind was horrible the last couple of days. This morning the wind chill was 31. brrr...  It is suppose to warm up some. Tomorrow is suppose to be fairly nice & not so windy, so we are hoping to get out & do some fishing.

Hubby is ready for us to go out & get some errands run, so I need to get off of here for now.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

    Zany hugs to you all....

  • Time with my parents...

What a wonderful visit we got in with my parents!  We all had a great time & it was the most special Mother's Day having my mom here & my daughter home with us as well.

They loved our home & the area that we live in & were able to see just about all of the wildlife that we have seen here so far. The only thing that they didn't get to see was the grouse.  Even the bear paid us a visit one evening, although we didn't see him, he did quite a bit of damage & we did find his muddy prints going across the driveway in 2 places.  He completely bent 2 of my shepherds hooks & bent open a suet feeder. Busted a wooden feeder & stole 2 finch socks. One sock, we found up the hill completely shredded.

I felt like I was on vacation too getting to just sit around & visit with them & getting to take them out & about to show them the area.

Daughter was at work when they first arrived, but got home a couple of hours later.
Here she is hugging her nana....

Saturday was hubby's birthday. I made layer dip, cheese enchildas & tacos.
For his dessert he had a peach, blackberry pie (which was delicious!)
I didn't have any birthday candles, so I had to light a tealight & put on top. lol...

I tried to get this post up yesterday, but Xanga was not cooperating. Been having some problems this morning too.

I did get caught up with just about everyone yesterday though.

Today I have my annual dr. exams.  I am having to fast. Ugh...I am already having my caffeine withdrawals! My appt. isn't until 1:30, so I am going to be miserable! lol...

I hope you all have a great day.

  • I am expecting my parents any minute now!!! I am SO excited. Hubby was able to take 1/2 a day off today & also all of tomorrow & Friday off!!! That makes me even more happy!

We had our first hummingbird and oriole today! We also saw 3 bluebirds. Hubby is outside right now putting up some bluebird houses.

We  treated & stained our deck. What a huge job. It had never been done before. It took the 2 of us 2 full days. But it looks so much better.

That's all I have time for now....
If I don't get back on here I want to wish you all a happy Mother's Day.

    Zany hugs to you....

  • May 1st already.   Where IS the time going to?  This huge home, 3 acres, being a wife & a mother & then also finding time for me  & to play is keeping me VERY busy.  I have not been a very good friend here lately, and for that I apologize.  I am only afraid that it is going to get worse with summer coming...yard work, gardening, fishing.... I will try to make it over here more often.  Believe it or not, I am not going to post any pictures whatsoever on this post. I just wanted to drop in to say hi & to apologize.

My parents left Texas this morning to start driving up north. First they will stop off in Illinois to visit family then they will head our way. I have no idea as of yet exactly when to expect them or how long they are planning on staying! lol... I do know that they will be here next weekend for sure though, and I am speculating on them arriving  here maybe on Wed.

Daughter is in OK having the time of her life seeing all of her friends. The weather there has been typical spring in Oklahoma weather...humid & stormy.  She will be back home on Sunday.

We are refinancing for the 2nd time since we purchased this home last Sept.   Have to take advantage of these low interest rates.

I am addicted to Cinnamon Almonds.   I picked up a bag of them a while back at  the Farm & Fleet store a while back & they were so good that I now  buy a bag every week. They are evidently made exclusively for this store as even the label says Blain's Farm & Fleet on it.  They are TOO good!

I was getting my hair cut (again) yesterday & while the stylist was hovering over my face she informed me that she had strep throat a while back & she was feeling like she had it again. Gee, thanks for breathing in my face & then telling me this.
So many people are sick right now with either strep or a flu like virus. Which is scaring everyone with this swine flu outbreak.

I am doing housework the first part of the day, so as I take a break, I will start catching up with everyone & will continue to do so through the weekend.

I hope you all have a great Friday & a super weekend.

  • Happy Saturday all! I am so bad on my posting any more. And my internet connection is even up to speed, so that is not part of my excuse any more.
I have just been staying busy with the house & now the yard too. Plus spending more time on Facebook & taking time out for me.
There are just so many things to do & that I want to do, it doesn't seem like there is enough time in each day to get to them all.
The temps here have been great. It was HOT yesterday! It got up to 88 the last time I saw the temp at around 4:00.
I worked outside all day long & it felt SO good. There is such a reward in working hard & seeing results & creating a pretty yard. Even though I was tired, sweaty & aching at the end, I was so content & satisfied.

We did have a good storm come in last night. In fact, around 5:00, I was outside taking pictures of the clouds. (yeah, you know me!) They were getting pretty wicked looking. Then I heard the tornado sirens go off.   First thought being the Okie girl that I am was to head for the basement....then I realized that I was hearing the sirens out here...I was surprised as being out in the rural area, I didn't think that we would. About that time, hubby called me & said the sirens were going off in Eau Claire also & told me to turn the local channel on to see what was going on. Well, remember last June when I moved up here & what I learned about their siren system here? They are not sounded strictly for tornadoes, but for any type of a warning. So they are going off because we were under a thunderstorm warning. Grrrrrr.....that just isn't right. One day a tornado really is going to come through here & nobody is going to heed the sirens. I may need to pay City Hall a visit & try to get things changed around here!

Good news on my parents....they ARE going to get to come as planned the first part of May!!!  My dad is not going to have to have surgery now!! Yay!!!  I am very excited to see them & to have them see where we live.   They will be here over Mother's Day & also for hubby's birthday.

Daughter is Oklahoma bound. She will be gone a week. Going back to Broken Arrow to see friends & gather for Theatre Production's annual showcase.  She is so excited.

Daughter & I went to see "17 Again"  last week.  We both loved it.  I have never seen the High School Musical movies, so I had no idea what a cutie pie Zac Efron was! lol...daughter has since gone out & bought all 3 movies. She has watched them, I haven't yet  but will soon!

I have finished reading the final Twilight book. Just finished it last night. I always am sad to finish a good book & especially one that is the last of the series. Daughter told me about an unpublished "Edward's view" of the 1st book. She is reading it online right now on Stephanie Meyer's website. I may need to go & read that now too.

    PICTURE TIME.....

First we will start with my stormy cloud pics from yesterday    (quit laughing at me!)

The deer on this particular evening were having so much fun just running around & playing.
This was also the same evening that they were eating out of all of the birdfeeders.

we have had a visitor on our balcony the last several nights.
We were also woke up to the sounds of foxes one night.
The visitor left his tracks all over our grill.....
